Tip!!

Ive always heard this tip but never followed it

'always pre-wash your fabric and make sure it is color safe'

this is why you should!

i made a skirt a few weeks back for my daughter

the fabric was a cute light green

only problem it was stiff and a bit itchy

I washed it and..

it washed out!!

all of the green and pink in the color faded.

now its kind of a dingy white.

. the fabric is no longer stiff or itchy!

its still cute and my daughter enjoys wearing it now

so be sure if you like a fabric you do what you can to keep it the way it is.

 pre-wash. color treat..whatever it takes..lol

My Husband is all for the Horde!

My husbands birthday is coming up and I recently had an idea to make him a gamer survivor kit.

The Kit will come in a 'treasure chest' and will include in it...

Mana and health 'potions'

An 'aged' map of Azaroth

A hearthstone

a horde key chain

warcraft cards

a horde pillow

a Mohawk grenade

 a few etched glasses with both horde and alliance symbols

a shirt or two

and a horde symbol banner.

I am planning on giving this all to him for his birthday.

Ive got alot of work ahead of me!!

I was at walmart today and found notebooks for 15 cents and bought a few to draw the horde symbol on

Next i decided to try to make the banner

I bought a package of plain variety size dowels from walmart (97 cents)

i painted them black and  hot glued them in a cross

then wrapped a leather string i had in my stash around them

next i made the banner

i started out by making a paper template of the shape and size i want

i trace the shape onto some leftover red fabric i had and cut it out

i used some heat and bond  to stick to two pieces together leaving the top a bit open

before attaching the banner to the dowels i appliqued the horde symbol

to hang the banner i made little straps and placed them in the gap i left in the top

i wrapped them around the dowel before heat sealing it closed ( heat n bond does wonders!!)

Voila!

Now my husband can show his colors!!

( i still need to make a little stand so it can stand on its own)

I also appliqued a sweater so when the Lil man gets old enough he can show his colors

i found a plain red sweater at walmart

Only $2

I traced the horde symbol onto the paper side of my heat n bond

i then ironed it onto some black fabric and cut out the shape

i fiddled with the placement a bit. couldn't decide where i liked it best.

Decided on the lower pocket. i ironed it on and it looks so cool

i plan on adding "for the horde" onto the back of the sweater!

i also want to make a few more of these.

especially one for the hubby...and heck why not one for me...

suri has a girlie one on the way...pics when its done

Dressy...

i found a tutorial on how to create a toddler dress from a mans button down dress shirt and thought id give it a try.

i found the shirt at goodwill for $2. i plan on going to yardsales this summer and finding more shirts for cheaper.

i love the way it turned out..

when she put it on she couldnt help but twirl..

i showed my mom and she suggested turning it around. turns out its reversible!! and looks good both ways. still needs a bit if work. i want to add a few girly colorful touches and maybe even replace the buttons.. but for one of my first clothing sewing projects id say it was a success...

Hooded Towel:
i had these towels in my stash waiting to be made into a hooded towel. one regular towel and a hand towel. each were 1.25 at walmart.

fold the hand towel in half and seam one side.

cut the hood to 9'' so it wouldnt be too big for the kiddos head..

i had this cheetah fabric from suris old cheetah pillow that i re- upholstered.

I trimmed the hood with some of the fabric...

i created a 'template' for the ear from craft foam sheets. i then traced the shape onto the fabric

i cut out the triangles and seamed them togethera turned right side out, leaving the bottom open

i placed the foam into the ear for stability. i them seamed around the ear.

i then placed the ears where i wanted them..

i then sewed the ears to the hood


next sew the the hood to the actual towel..

lastly i added trim to the upper edges of the towel and added an applique 's'.

She loved her new towel and used it that night!!

Pillows...

I used half a yard of some awesome fabric and made suri a pillow. i used the stuffing from her old cheetah print pillow.

she loved it and helped pick out the fabric. she couldnt wait til i got it done. she sleeps with it everynight now...

I made another crib sheet...

I finished the 'Toxic' onesie!
